Many of you have probably noticed that I have been a bit MIA on the blog over the last few months. For that I apologize. And starting today, that is changing.
But first, a little background. A year and change ago I had an idea that was born out of this blog, your questions, conversations with the farmers and ranchers, and the newsletter. That idea was a to build a local food resource and community around supporting our most precious resource, local farms and ranches. Last Spring, with the help of Nerdy Mind ( a local web builder), we began designing and developing a new online directory. In December all that hard work was complete, and The Pig and the Plow came into being.
Since December I have spent many waking hours entering all the profiles into the directory. Needless to say, I didn’t have a lot of bandwidth left to write blog posts. Once you see the directory, you’ll know why. It is chock full of all of the farms and ranches in Northern Colorado. Our aim is to have the most current listing of local food providers, farmer’s markets and farm stands. There will also be a lot of perks available to our members. As you can imagine, building a network and online community takes a lot of time and energy.
So, with that said, there are some changes coming to Farming Fort Collins. I have given my notice at the day job with my last day in May. As of June 1, I will be working on The Pig and the Plow full-time. I’ll continue posting for Farming on Sundays through the end of April. This week you’ll be introduced to Amy, who is going to be an amazing resource for our community. Amy will start blogging and taking over Farming’s social media this week and will be taking over Farming full-time as of the end of April.
I’ll let Amy introduce herself and tell you about the great direction she will be taking Farming Fort Collins. The blog and the community has been near and dear to my heart for the last three years, and I am so excited it will continue in such good hands. I know you’ll welcome her with open arms. See you next Sunday!
